Do you know him?

Do you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour?

Read that again.

Not, do you know about Jesus and that he is your Lord and Saviour.

Do you KNOW Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour?

Not just in the head but in the heart too.

In times of trouble is he your first port of call?  Your rock and your refuge. Or do you just know about him?

As Christians, we are called to know Jesus. To spend time alone with him and learn his voice.  That “still small voice inside us” which guides, teaches and comforts.

It is through knowing Jesus that we are more able to let him take on life’s burdens for us. To trust that he is big enough to handle them.  As our first resort, rather than our last.

Jesus promises us a peace that the world cannot give (John 14:27) and so we should bring all of our troubles, all of our worries to him in prayer.  Nothing is too big for him to handle, or small enough to care about.

When we learn to rely on Jesus in the tough times and experience his peace, then we truly begin to know him, rather than just knowing about him.

Maybe you don’t yet know Jesus at all and my prayer for you is that you would open your heart to him. That you would begin to experience the freedom and life in all its fullness that he promises.

Or perhaps you know about Jesus, in your head but not your heart. I pray that you would come to trust him with your burdens such that you experience his deep and lasting peace.

So ask yourself, do you know Jesus?

I hope and pray that wherever you are in your faith life, more and more you would be able to answer “Yes!”
