What’s your verse?

Do you have a “go to” verse that you pull out in times of need?  Or maybe one that you meditate on frequently, that you live by, making it the verse of you life?

I’ve had several over the years, but the one that works best for me is a short passage from the start of Psalm 25 which reads (in the New Living Translation):

“Oh Lord I give my life to you.  I trust in you my God.”

I can’t honestly remember when it happened but, some time ago, these words leapt off the pages of my Bible and into my head.  And there they have lain ever since, waiting to be recalled.  Waiting to remind me that this commitment is at the core of my walk with the Lord.

That I owe God my life, my salvation, and that every day should seek to commit the day’s activities to him.  That, come what may through that day, I trust that God is working things out through me for the best.

I find it makes a great daily verse and one that I can repeat over and over as I pray and meditate.  One that makes me make a commitment to God daily and to focus on the one who matters most.  Having a life verse is great – I highly recommend it.  If you don’t yet have one, I recommend that you spend time with God and his Word to work it out.  I believe that there’s one for everyone.

So what’s your verse?

  1. Good one!
    Mine’s – 2 Corinthians 4:5
‘For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.’
