Everyone is a little bit messed up. Everyone.
But through social media and the way it sleeps into our day-to-day lives, we think everyone else has it all together. That we’re the only ones whose lives are fucked.
We look at the highlight reels of others’ lives, then gaze around at the mess on the cutting room floor of our own. The mistakes, the failings, the shame, the regrets.
Then somehow we think this is a fair comparison.
Someone much wiser than me once said “comparison is the thief of joy”. And they were right.
No matter how perfectly presented someone’s life might be, they too have a cutting room floor.
And it’s at least as messy as yours.
