Years ago I used to cycle to work, almost every day.
A full week of cycling was about 120 miles and as a result, I could eat what I wanted with total impunity impunity.
Even with all of that cake, I was the slimmest and fittest that I had been since my teens.
Then our office moved. Then the pandemic happened. Long story short, I stopped cycling much at all.
Inevitably, it didn’t take long for a casual couple of stones to pile back on.
These days I go to the gym several times a week, initially in an attempt to get that cycling body back.
But it hasn’t happened. I’m fitter again and a LOT stronger than I’ve ever been, but that slim cyclist’s physique still eludes me.
And here’s the thing: I was built like a cyclist back then because I CYCLED A LOT!
Now I’m built differently because my regular exercise habit is different.
We are COMPLETELY the product of the daily and weekly habits we adopt.
Your business is no different. If you spend every day chasing after next week, nothing will ever change.
If you regularly spend time visualising, thinking about and building for the future, guess what? Yep, eventually you’ll get there.
There’s no magic wand and no secret sauce. Just relentless forward motion step by step in the right direction.
In this way, over time, we become the sum total of the things we choose to do every day.
